Welcome to the Chopmist Hill Volunteer Fire Department

For decades, the residents of Chopmist Hill and surrounding areas of Scituate have counted on our volunteer firefighters for emergency response and community protection. Based at 1362 Chopmist Hill Road in North Scituate, our all-volunteer department serves as part of the Town of Scituate’s network of fire districts, serving the Chopmist Hill (western) district. CHVFD works with the North Scituate, Potterville, and Hope-Jackson fire companies to provide comprehensive protection across the town. We are proud of our heritage and are committed to maintaining professional firefighting standards.

Chopmist Hill VFD provides a broad range of services to our community, including:

  • Fire Suppression & Rescue — Responding to structure fires, wild/brush fires, and fire-related emergencies.

  • Medical Co-response & First Aid — Many emergencies involve medical issues — we work to stabilize and assist until EMS or rescue units arrive.

  • Vehicle & Roadway Accidents — Extrication, scene safety, and fire suppression as needed.

  • Public Safety & Rescue Operations — Water rescue, hazardous-materials response (as resources allow), technical rescue, and emergency support.

  • Fire Prevention — Smoke-alarm installation, fire-safety education, responsible issuing of burn permits.

  • Community Outreach & Events — Participating in local events to strengthen ties with neighbors and raise awareness for safety.

Our mission is to protect life and property, support public safety, promote fire prevention, and engage with our community. As a volunteer department, we rely on dedicated individuals and community support; your involvement, whether by volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness, helps keep our community safe.
