At CHVFD, we’re ordinary people who choose to step up when it counts. We don’t expect you to walk through the door knowing everything. If you’ve got the willingness to learn, the discipline to show up, and the steadiness to keep your head when someone else is losing theirs — we can train you to do the rest.

We’re a volunteer department. That means our members have jobs, families, and full schedules. We get it. You’re not chained to a pager - nobody expects you to make every call. What we do expect is commitment:

• One duty night a week, responding from home unless you choose to bunk in.

• Respond to other calls when you can.

• Train regularly, take the role seriously, and support the team.

We don’t run sirens from personal vehicles. We respond in a level-headed, focused, and professional manner. When the call drops, we move with purpose — no theatrics.

You’ll get full training, hands-on skills, mentorship from seasoned firefighters, and certification opportunities. We don’t throw you into the deep end. You’ll be brought along step by step until you’re confident, capable, and part of the crew.

If you want challenge, purpose, and a place where your effort actually matters — then there’s room for you on the hill.

No experience needed. Just grit, teachability, and a willingness to serve.
